Reminiscence
by: Robert Zimmerman

Remember the summer, the summer that
We fell together? I can always see
Dusty old pianos, peering like your cat,
Stacks of olden books, nothing can hold glee.

Ne’er the tallest mountains can still my heart,
But the joy has been lost, burnt away in
Coal. Now I look for comfort, naught but tart.
With your lovely dewdrops can see no sin.

Can you, too, remember moments we
Held dear? Are you not forbidden to shed
A single, lowly tear? We will not be
Separated, just crying in its stead.

Our glee is long forgotten, left in haze.
But hope we’ll still continue, clear the daze.
