Forest Starlight
by: Robert Zimmerman

Looking towards the sky at night
I see the memories
That I simply thought I had.
Why can’t they be real?
I feel alone.
Will you come back to guide me
As once before?

How can you be
So close to me
And yet so far away?
All I ever think about
Is you.
Once it was so close,
I let it slip away.
Now it’s gone
And I’m here to stay.

In colors of the forest, greens,
The stars spell out
Your name to me.
I’ve harvested sorrow
And now I’m under
Your thumb.
Crush me or save me…

My forest starlight,
Don’t turn to day.
I let it slip away.
Now it’s gone
And I’m here to stay.
